The SIG4 Engineering teams are working closely with ALSTOM (St Ouen) to design and specify the future ‘NExTEO’ CBTC system to be installed on lines B & D of the Paris RER.
The work carried out by SIG4 engineers consists of analysing the requirements expressed by the customer (RATP and SNCF), then translating them into technical solutions to enable the development of a new CBTC system that integrates all the requested functionalities and guarantees passenger safety.
The specific features of this project are as follows: it involves GoA-2 (driver-operated) operation on a territory shared between SNCF and RATP. The rolling stock is recent (RER-NG and MI20) and is equipped with several signalling systems: CBTC NExTEO, but also KVB, ETCS, and others. The challenge is to reconcile the progress made possible by the use of CBTC technology with the strong desire not to disrupt the historical habits of drivers on these lines.
SIG4 is delighted to be contributing to this superb project alongside the ALSTOM teams.
